Beware, buzz phrase in the u-bend…

Business has never been more efficient…. at embracing gobledegook.

‘Solutions’: ‘propositions’; ‘leveraging’ – just some of the current buzz words.

So when I read in today’s Guardian that Reckitt Benckiser is world leader in "lavatory cleaning solutions" I railed against this crime against the language. Why not simply ‘lavatory cleaning’?

Then the penny dropped. They really did mean solutions – as in the chemicals that reach the parts of the u-bend that other solutions don’t reach.

Odd thing, language!
