Why is Britain so good at transport chaos?
I could have driven to Windsor today. But I decided to get a train from London. Big mistake. I arrived at Paddington at 9.30am. The information board showed no train had left since 9.00am. The so-called information desk was useless: advising me to catch a train that had been cancelled. Train after train left before the one I was sitting on. No-one in authority lifted a finger to help the hapless passengers.
Yet these train companies grow fat on taxpayers’ subsidy.
How many centuries have to pass before Britain’s rail companies put the passenger first?
